The Tenth International Conference “Library and Democratization of Society” was opened on October 1, 2009 in the Coast of Issyk-Kul Lake. This event was organized by the Soros Kyrgyzstan Foundation, Embassy of USA, World Bank and American University of Central Asia.

Participants of the Conference will discuss the problem of library information support of educational, scientific, cultural and production of citizens in particular country, forming, storage and effective use of social information resources.

Mr. B.Sh.Shamshiev, Advisor of President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Mark Cameron, Head of the Public Relations Division of the US Embassy, Mrs. L.A.Baklykova, Director of the State Patent and Technical Library under Kyrgyzpatent as well as specialists of library science and informatics from the USA, UK, France, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekisan, Tajikistan participated in the conference.
