The Memorandum on cooperation between Kyrgyzpatent and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry was signed.

The bilateral meeting took place with Dr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the WIPO, during a working visit of Mr. Azhibai Kalmamatov, Director of the State Intellectual Property Service in the WIPO headquarter, Geneva, on May 2 to 14, 2011.

Today on January 15, 2010 Mr. Kurmanbek Bakiev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed the Decree “On the Issues of the State Intellectual Property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic”

According to the Decree, a new Statute and Management structure of the State Intellectual Property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic have been adopted.

In addition, the Decree specifies that the State Intellectual Property Service shall act as a self-financing entity. Financing of the State IP Fund and of the “KG” ccTLD Administration Center shall be done by Kyrgyzpatent itself.

Mr. Ulan Melisbek, Director of the State Intellectual Property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic during the recent visit to Geneva for participation in the 15th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore met with the WIPO representatives: Mr. Michal Svantner, Director of the Division for Certain Countries in Europe and Asia, Mr. Ron Marchant, the WIPO Independent Consultant, Mr. Serguei Zotine, Senior Legal Counselor, Division for Certain Countries in Europe and Asia. .

The XXII (sixteenth ordinary) meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (AC EAPO) is taking place in Moscow (the Russian Federation) from 10 to 12 November, 2009.

The meeting of the Eurasian Patent Organization is attended by representatives of eight Member States, the Eurasian Patent Convention - the plenipotentiary representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, as well as members of the delegations.

The Republican meeting of the governmental authorities took place in the Government House on 20th of October 2009, where Kurmanbek Bakiev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, announced the new structure of the Government.

Under the new program of public governance reforms the status of the State Patent Service has been raised. The agency is now derived from the governmental structure and is being reformed into the State Service of Intellectual Property of the Kyrgyz Republic.
