[b][i]When the independent television outlet Stan TV was raided by Kyrgyz financial police on April 1, authorities claimed they were investigating the use of unlicensed software. The timing of the raid implied a different motivation. As CPJ reported at the time, the day before, the Kyrgyz courts had shut down the pro-opposition newspaper Forum. In the previous month, two other newspapers, Achyk Sayasat (Open Politics) and Nazar (Viewpoint), were suspended for allegedly insulting the now-ousted president, Kurmanbek Bakiyev.
The Russian Drama Theater is obliged to pay royalty
The Bishkek District Court sustained a claim of Kyrgyzpatent to levy royalty from the National Russian Drama Theater named after Ch. Aitmatov in the amount 63 063 soms. Thus the suit came to the end that was continuing more then one year.

Los Angeles — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials seized 252,968 DVDs with counterfeit trademarks. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of the shipment was estimated to be more than $7.1 million and the domestic value was $204,904.
Interaction with the law-enforcement and juridical authorities for combating against infringements in the field of Intellectual Property
In 2009 the State Intellectual Property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic has continued to interact actively with law-enforcement and juridical authorities for combating against infringements in the field of Intellectual Property. In particular, the examination of production containing Intellectual Property subject matters was realized upon request of the Office of Public Prosecutor and Financial Police.

Since the year beginning Kyrgyzpatent’s officials have checked for about 100 thousand items of audiovisual production, imported to the Republic from foreign countries. None licensed. It means that our Republic is a kind of free economic zone for counterfeit production. Mr. Timur Adilov, Head of the Department for Research and Examination of Products and Goods containing IP, told about changes in this field and how copyright must be protected.

T. Koenaliev: "Economy and intellectual property are inseparably linked"
Kabar, 12 November 2009. Seminar on protection of intellectual property rights took place in “Jannat” on Wednesday, 12 November, 2009. The press office of the State Service of Intellectual Property of the Kyrgyz Republic reported on this to the Kabar news agency.
The event was organized by the State Service of Intellectual Property of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzpatent) together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe of and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Enforcement and control authorities are awarded with certificates after the short courses
On October 30, 2009 workers of law enforcement and control authorities were awarded with certificates after the completion of short courses «Protection of Intellectual Property Rights»
This group attended the course from October 27 to October 30 2009. The course was organized by the State Service of Intellectual Property of the Kyrgyz Republic in pursuance of the Interdepartmental Commission on Counteraction against Violation of Intellectual Property Rights under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The courses has been held on a monthly basis from March 2009.
