A letter requesting assistance was submitted to Kyrgyzpatent by Mrs. Asel Otorbaeva, the chief editor of “SK plus” newspaper.
It became known that in early March the domain name “sk.kg”, which used to belong to the publishing house “Slovo Kyrgyzstana”, was transferred by “Asia Info” to a private person. Last days the site was not working. Former executives of the publishing house say that it is because the old site did not meet the necessary requirements and required reconstruction. But when the chief editor of “SK Plus” raised the issue of restoration of the site she found out that the domain name now belongs to a private person, and on the website where previously were posted materials of Kyrgyzstan’s state media, now there was information for hunters in … Russia.
“I ask you, as head of the relevant entity, to facilitate the return of the domain name to the newspaper - the successor of the liquidated publishing house, because I believe that management of “SK” as well as “Asia Info” did not take into consideration this fundamental state matter, or maybe someone used the situation of the liquidation to pass it (domain name) to private hands “- says the message of the chief editor “SK plus” to Mr. Ulan Melisbek, the director of Kyrgyzpatent .
The management of Kyrgyzpatent sent an official letter to the “Asia Info” in which, inter alia, states that “the transfer of the domain name «sk.kg»,which is the official state information resource , contradicts to the public policy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of mass media.”
Commenting on the transfer of the domain name “sk.kg”, Mr. Ulan Melisbek, director of Kyrgyzpatent, noted that this is not the first time that the “Asia Info” transfers the domain name to a new owner without prior notice, thereby violating the worldwide accepted procedure.
