On March 1, 2010 the first meeting of international experts with Kyrgyzpatent’s officials was held in the State Intellectual Property Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Mr. Ulan Melisbek, Director of the State Intellectual Property Service addressed with welcoming speech to participants and wished them a fruitful work. He noted: “This meeting starts a beginning of the joint activity for development of the Strategy in the field of intellectual property. The significance of this document for our youth Republic, moving on the way of democracy and market economy, is hard to overemphasize. Nowadays exactly a creative potential and innovations influence extensively to economic growth and social development”.

Mr. Michal Svantner, Director of the Division for Certain Countries in Europe and Asia (WIPO) also wished fruitful work.

The first meeting is aimed at entering into the methodic of intellectual property and innovations development. The Strategy will be directed to new approaches to innovations, creativity and intellectual property.

Mr. Ron Marchant, the WIPO independent consultant, presented the guidance on the National Strategy developing in countries in transition. He emphasized the main lines of activities and told about members of this process.

Mr. Ron Marchant also noted that the Central Agency for Development, Investments and Innovations (CADII) plays the key role in the process of development and further realization of the National Strategy.
